Direct2 IT (Server Administrator) is a combination of two technical training steps. Each step offers a specific set of skills to enable you to enter and or enhance your career. Server Administrator is the second step in the Direct2 training and career program. This program provides you with the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot network system environments.

What are the learning outcomes?

This program is the perfect way for those who have achieved the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification or have equivalent experience with computers to establish a strong career in IT. The program provides you with skills and knowledge that comes with an additional internationally recognised industry certification and a nationally recognised Certificate IV Information Technology - Networking.

People seeking quick career advancement in the field of network management and administration. This program is also suitable for experienced IT professionals wishing to improve their career advancement opportunities.

Eligibility for this program is determined by your cognitive assessment results or by successfully completing the Support Technician modules or recognition of prior learning.

What are the core units?

MS6420:  Fundamentals of Windows Server 2008 Network and Applications Infrastructure

This course introduces students to network and applications infrastructure concepts and configurations provided by Windows Server 2008. Students will be able to acquire a fundamental understanding in order to pursue advanced topics available for certification in the network and applications infrastructure areas.

MS6421:  Configuring and Troubleshooting a Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure (Exam - 70-642)

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to configure and troubleshoot a Windows Sever 2008 network infrastructure. Students will learn to implement and configure secure network access and implement fault tolerant storage technologies. Students will gain an understanding of the network technologies most commonly used with Windows Server 2008 and IP-enabled networks. Students will also learn how to secure servers and maintain update compliance.

MS6424:  Fundamentals of Windows Server 2008 Active Directory

This course provides Active Directory Technology Specialists an introduction to Active Directory server roles in Windows Server 2008. The course is intended for entry level students who want to get familiar with the Active Directory server roles and their basic functionality.

MS6425:  Configuring and Troubleshooting Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Domain Services (Exam - 70-640)

This course provides to teach Active Directory Technology Specialists with the knowledge and skills to configure Active Directory Domain Services in a distributed environment, implement Group Policies, perform backup and restore, and monitor and troubleshoot Active Directory related issues.

MS6426:  Configure, Identify and Access Solutions with Windows Server 2008 Active Directory

This course provides the knowledge and skills that IT Professionals need to configure identity and access solutions with Windows Server 2008 Active Directory.

MS6430:  Window Server 2008, Server Administrator (Exam 70-646)

This  course is intended for IT pros who are interested in the knowledge and skills necessary to plan a Windows Server 2008 operating system infrastructure. This course is aimed at server administrators and is not a “how-to” course; therefore, it has a significant number of planning exercises with less focus on hands-on exercises than some courses.

Work-based training (Optional)

Throughout the program you are sent out on work-based training where you gain invaluable experience in the workplace. This part of the training adds so much to your experience and your ability to secure employment upon completion of the course.
