Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification will advance your career by ensuring you have the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot system environments running on the Microsoft Windows operating system

In order to obtain the MCSA designation students are required to complete the following courses and exams:

Network System

  • Course 2273: Managing and maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 environment - Exam 70-290
  • Course 2277: Implementing, managing, and maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure - Exam 70-291
  • Client Operating System
  • Course 2272: Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional - Exam 70-270
  • Elective
  • *Course 2400: Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 - Exam 70-284

*As an alternative to the elective listed above, these certifications or certification combinations may be substituted for an MCSA elective:

  • MCDST or
  • MCSA 2000 or
  • MCSE 2000 or

WHAT ARE THE CORE UNITS?

Managing and Maintaining Windows Microsoft Server 2003 Environment (MS-2273)
Learn to administer larger scale networks using Windows 2003 as your server(s). Setup and configure domains and domain controllers for security and authentication. Use group policy to secure your network and deploy applications to client PC's.

Implementing, Managing and Maintaining MS Windows Server 2003  Network Infrastructure: Network Services (MS-2277)
Install and configure major network services (DNS, DHCP, WINS, RRAS etc). Secure network traffic using certificates and IPSec. Configure a routing solution and assign appropriate IP addresses.

Prerequisites

  • Previous IT industry experience an advantage
  • Prior knowledge of the following:
  • Networking fundamentals
  • Network protocols
  • Exposure to Server 2003 and XP
  • Understanding basic network topologies
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL)is available on application.
